Reflecting God’s Love, Remembering the Gift That Changed Everything

“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…” – Isaiah 9:6

Precious friends, the spirit of Christmas invites us to pause – to reflect, to remember, and to realign our hearts with what truly matters. There can be hustle and bustle of celebrations with family and friends, shopping for presents to put under the Christmas tree, and on and on, but truthfully, it is not about presents or decorations or the things money can buy. It is about love. It is about memory. And above all, it is about Jesus.

The birth of Christ marks the moment Heaven touched earth – when God, in His perfect love, sent His Son to save the entire world. That truth alone gives Christmas its sacred meaning. (Isaiah 7:14 & Luke 2:10-11)

The Greatest Gift Ever Given

Scripture tells us plainly:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son…” (John 3:16)

Christmas is the celebration of God’s generosity – a generosity so profound that it cannot be matched. Jesus, the Messiah, the Savior of the world, was born in humility so that we could live in freedom. The manger reminds us that God’s love does not arrive wrapped in worldly glory, but in obedience, sacrifice, and grace. There is no greater gift than for our Savior to have met the Father on the cross that day and bear every sin of every human being in the entire world. The gift of eternal salvation – my goodness, my heart, I am overwhelmed by the selflessness of the Creator of the universe and His ultimate desire to be with us as His creation forever and ever.

This is the heart of Christmas: God gave Himself for us.

Joy Rooted in Relationship, Not Things

The holidays bring me deep joy – not because of gifts under a tree, but because of the memories woven into this season. Memories of loved ones who have gone on to Heaven, and memories still being made with those God has graciously placed in my life today. It’s about togetherness, love, laughter and joy.

Scripture reminds us:
“Every good and perfect gift is from above…” (James 1:17)

These shared moments are the gifts that last. Even in grief, there is gratitude. Even in longing, there is hope. Because in Christ, death is not the end – it is the doorway to eternity. How I look forward to the day my eternal life begins and how I desire to remember to cherish moments on earth, but to see in spirit God’s promise of a paradise, as a believer, I excitedly await!

The Peace That Surpasses All Understanding

Christmas also brings awareness. Awareness that not everyone feels joy this season. Many hearts are hurting. Many are grieving. Many are longing for peace.

That is why my prayer each year is this: that every soul would encounter the peace of Christ – not the temporary peace the world offers, but the peace that only God can give (John 14:27). Two Christmas’s ago, I had to cling to this peace like never before as mama was home with the Lord and I remained here, feeling more alone than ever. Honestly friends, I think back to that time, and can’t even fathom how I survived, BUT, for a loving God and Heavenly Father who cared for me deeply enough to carry me through. The footprints in the sand were most definitely not my own, but the precious feet of Jesus, walking me through that season minute by minute. Pictures portray smiles and videos portray laughs – That is a miracle of the Lord, the gift I needed to be happy for my blessed family, especially, my children.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7) – This peace is not dependent on circumstances. It is rooted in relationship – in knowing that God is with us, Emmanuel.

A Mother’s Love and the Magic of Christmas

In Christmases past, my mama made this season absolutely magical. Her love for God and her heart for giving shone brightest during this time of year. Christmas was never just something she celebrated – it was something she lived. She truly made everything so beautiful – the charm of the season exuded in all she did – for us, her family, and for so many others.

Her faith, her generosity, and her joy left an imprint on my heart that time cannot erase. I feel her spirit during this season, and I carry her legacy forward – choosing to create that same magic, rooted in love and faith, for my own family.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed.” (Proverbs 31:28) – My mana, my forever angel.

Carrying the Spirit of Christmas Forward

The spirit of Christmas does not belong to one day on the calendar. It is a posture of the heart – generosity, remembrance, compassion, and worship.

As believers, we are called to reflect Christ’s love daily – to give freely, to love deeply and to serve faithfully.

“Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!” (2 Corinthians 9:15)

This Christmas, may we slow down. May we remember. May we worship. And may we allow the Spirit of Christ to fill our homes, our hearts, and our lives – not just for a season, but forever.

From me to you – Merry Christmas and God bless! Sending you love, joy and peace ALWAYS!

Amen and Amen.

Love, Jen C.
