Thanksgiving is such a beautiful time – families gathering, homes filling with laughter, and tables overflowing with food. But friend, if we’re being honest, life doesn’t always feel like a celebration. Many of us enter this season carrying burdens, unmet expectations, unanswered prayers, or the weight of a world that seems to be spinning faster than we can keep up.

And yet…we give thanks.

Not because everything is perfect.
Not because our desires are fully met.
Not because life has fallen into place exactly as we wish.

We give thanks because God is good—always.

Scripture tells us, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

This verse doesn’t say for all circumstances – because some circumstances are painful.
It says in all circumstances – because our gratitude rests not in what we have, but in Who holds us.

Thankful for a Perfect Savior, Not a Perfect Life

The core of our thanksgiving isn’t found in what sits on our tables, but in what was accomplished on the cross.

God loved us so deeply that He gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ – to die for our sins so that we might live eternally with Him (John 3:16). That alone is reason enough for a lifetime of thanksgiving.

Personally, the Lord has taught me to be thankful in all things – not because my life looks exactly the way I desire in my humanity, but because the Lord is good, faithful, and unchanging. Friend, from one day to the next, winds shift direction, just as our “circumstances” do. As Christian brothers and sisters, we stand on the cornerstone of faith, that which is our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mentally, when you are standing, and all the things are happening around you, that feeling of overwhelming anxiousness hits you – to remain steadfast and strong, ALWAYS look to God. Spiritual truth tells us this:

He is the reason for every season—including this one.

A Needed Pause in a Busy Season

This blog post feels refreshing – because writing it required me to stop.

In the rush of preparations, holiday plans, responsibilities, and the hustle of life, I felt myself falling behind. The world moves quickly…and sometimes, too quickly.

But God whispered, “Be still.”

And in that stillness, He reminded me:
Your heart needs rest.
Your spirit needs refreshing.
Your soul needs time with Me.

Friend, please don’t let this season pass by without taking a sacred pause.

Sit.
Breathe.
And meet with the Holy Spirit – even if only for a moment.

Let His presence wash over your hurried heart.
Let His peace settle your mind.
Let gratitude rise – not from what you see, but from Who He is.

He gave you life.
He chose you.
He loves you.
Be thankful for that.

Let This Thanksgiving Be Worship

This year, let your gratitude be worship.

Not based on circumstances
…but on Christ.
Not based on feelings
…but on faithfulness.
Not based on what you hold
…but on Who holds you.

Today, may your heart overflow with a deeper awareness of Jesus – His goodness, His mercy, His sacrifice, and His constant presence in your life.

Beloved, He is worthy of our thanksgiving—today and every day.
Happy Thanksgiving and may the peace of Christ fill your home and your heart.
