Lately, I have been obsessed with gardening, with planting flowers and watching the process of their beautiful and amazing growth. Y’all, the truth is the flowers, the trees, the grass…. They all need sunshine. As I began to pay close attention to the process, I realized the most incredible thing, everything grows leaning into the sun, just as we being God’s children grow as we “lean” into the “SON”, Jesus Christ. Bloom where God has you. Grow; don’t remain stagnant. Paul tells us to, “press on in our walk on this earth”. Paul doesn’t say ease into your calling, or carefully try to discern, no, he says, “press.” That word press means, “to continue doing something with determination, especially despite obstacles, fatigue, or delays,” according to the dictionary. Philippians 3:14 is a verse I always have and always will cling to for encouragement to stay the course and to never give up.

You Were Never Meant to Be Anyone Else

The flowers don’t bloom all at once. Trees don’t produce fruit overnight. Even the changing of the seasons happens little by little, exactly as God designed.

Yet, if we’re honest, many of us spend our lives wishing we were somewhere else or even someone else.

“If only I had their talents…”

“If only I looked like them…”

“If only I had their confidence…”

“If only my life looked more like theirs…”

Comparison has a sneaky way of convincing us that someone else’s path is somehow better than our own. Before long, we begin questioning our worth, our purpose, and whether God could ever use someone like us.

But friend, can I remind you of something today?

God has never needed a copy. He has always worked through originals. (Read that again!)

Think about it.

Moses wasn’t Joshua.

Joshua wasn’t David.

David wasn’t Esther.

Esther wasn’t Peter.

Peter wasn’t Paul.

Mary wasn’t Martha.

Each one was uniquely created for the purpose God had prepared for them.

Can you imagine if David had spent his life wishing he was Moses?

Or if Esther had decided she wasn’t enough because she wasn’t Deborah?

History would look very different.

God didn’t ask them to become someone else.

He simply asked them to be faithful with where He had placed them.

The same is true for you.

There will never be another Billy Graham.

There will never be another Beth Moore.

There will never be another Corrie ten Boom.

There will never be another Charles Stanley.

And there will never be another you.

Out of the billions of people who have walked this earth, God uniquely formed you (Jeremiah 1:5). He gave you your personality, your experiences, your gifts, your strengths, and yes – even some of your struggles. None of those things are accidental.

Your story isn’t meant to be a carbon copy of someone else’s testimony.

It’s meant to become a beautiful testimony of God’s faithfulness in your own life.

Sometimes we become so focused on where we wish we were that we miss the opportunities God has placed right in front of us.

Maybe your mission field isn’t a stadium filled with thousands.

Maybe it’s your kitchen table.

Maybe it’s your workplace.

Maybe it’s the co-worker who needs encouragement.

Maybe it’s your children.

Maybe it’s a neighbor who simply needs someone to listen.

Never underestimate what God can do through one faithful heart.

The world tells us we need to be famous to make a difference.

Jesus tells us we need to be faithful – when you make your journey Home, Jesus will meet you. It is there you will hear, “Well done, my good and “faithful” servant.” The less we are recognized by the world, the more we will be recognized by our Savior, and our King ~Amen.

What if your greatest purpose isn’t found in becoming more like someone else?

What if it’s found in becoming more like Christ while embracing the person God created you to be?

So today, instead of asking, “Why can’t I be more like them?” try asking a different question:

“Lord, how can I bloom where You’ve planted me?”

Wherever you find yourself today – whether you’re in a season of joy, uncertainty, waiting, or new beginnings – know this:

God isn’t finished writing your story.

He sees you.

He knows you.

He loves you.

And He has a purpose for your life that no one else can fulfill.

So keep growing.

Keep trusting.

Keep believing.

Keep blooming.

Because the Gardener who planted you knows exactly what He’s doing.

“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10

• Stop comparing yourself to someone else.
• Thank God for one unique gift He has given you.
• Ask Him to show you one place where you can “bloom” this week.
• Encourage one person with the same kindness you hope someone would show you.
